Something Different: A Photoshoot with Olympians Ashton Eaton and Brianne Theisen-Eaton Done
You never know what’s coming next when you’re my line of photography. I’m particularly lucky in this widespread community of friends, with different interests and connections and plans always cropping up.
Even so, it was a surprise to find myself at a track for a photoshoot with two Olympic runners, one a gold medalist and the world record holder in the decathlon.
The backstory isn’t all that interesting--an acquaintance was coordinating a promotional video for a ring brand, represented by the couple. They needed action still photography, and I was in the neighborhood.
The fun part of this story was how lovely these two world-class athletes were as a couple. It was inspiring to see their athleticism, and to put motion photography to work in this intensely different atmosphere. But it was particularly nice to see the way the two of them were together as a couple as well as professionals at a photoshoot.
I’ve said many times that one of my favorite parts of my job is that I get to capture incredibly talented people doing what they do best. I’ve got to say, it’s a bit of a thrill with the Track & Field events right around the corner to have had the chance to capture two of the great athletes of this Olympics.
