Rationale in LA

Rationale by Gregory Nolan

I’ve been watching as Rationale has released beautiful song after song and has started taking indie radio listings by storm. He chose composite landscape photos of mine for the singles artwork, and for their key art as he’s developed his look and feel. Rationale is on every road trip playlist or around-the-house mix I’ve listened to in quite a while. So when I saw he was performing at the Bootleg Theatre in LA, I couldn’t resist.

I can’t believe this guy’s voice. And it’s one thing to create complex, vocal-driven songs in studio, but they brought the same power and emotional depth to the live performance. All that, plus he’s a great showman.

If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while, you know that I love seeing new artists get their start. I know what a hard road it is to build a new act--from the song writing to the development of an image to building a fanbase. So far everything I’ve seen from Rationale makes me think he is doing things right, from writing brilliant songs to delivering incredible performances. This is an act to watch. And if you haven’t started listening and watching for tour dates near you, you’re missing out.
